Kèr Oytākij (/ˈojtəˑ/ /kij/ [shore] [previous]) is a subtropical Town located in Luchâ Layæ Kingdom, Āwānzāt Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr Oytākij is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Oytākij was founded by Ailudidae Qíhgùru, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Oytākij has a yearly average temperature of 30°C (86°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 35°C (95°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 26°C (78°F). Kèr Oytākij receives an average of 224 cm/y (88 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Kèr Oytākij covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2690 m (8825 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Oytākij was founded durring the late 15th century in summer of the year 1365, by Ailudidae Qíhgùru. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Ailudidae Qíhgùru.

Kèr Oytākij was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Oytākij is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr Oytākij is was constructed arround several narrow gravel mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Kèr Oytākij's size could have. The town's well-designed, yet cheep are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A look around Kèr Oytākij gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. Beneath this surface, the people of Kèr Oytākij can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear Kèr Oytākij places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Oytākij's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

Kèr Oytākij is remarkably well-fortified for a site of its size and role. Tall, stout walls, strong points inside the community, concentric defenses, a strategic terrain location, or a large body of standing troops might be present. Some threat is thought to exist that makes maintaining this fortification worthwhile, though it may come at a dear cost to the locals. The community’s suzerain may be uncomfortable with these defenses, as they could just as easily be used to defy the ruler.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century Kèr Oytākij was struck by a devistating earthquake. The quake brought ruin to Kèr Oytākij, which lost 111 people, 128 livestock, and 88 buildings in the earthquake. The day of the quake is remembered by many as Woe's Day.
